THE CRUCIFIXION- PART ONE

On the road to Calvary, all the people shouting out at me

Their cries of hatred scream at me, the lies the devil planted

But even so I know within, the Fathers' will be done

CHORUS

Father, forgive them for they know not what they do

They persecute and try me, but they know not what they do

And through all the scars I gain, even though my heart is pained

I love them, I love them, take me instead

As I lay here on this cross, the nails hammered in my hands

This crown of thorns it twists and hurts, my body bruised and battered

But even so I know within, the Fathers' will be done

Looking out upon the people, there is so much anger there

Please Lord, don't turn your eyes away, I need you Lord I need you

But even so I know within, the Fathers' will be done

BRIDGE

Take the lies he tells about you, all the evil she pursues

The lusts that bind their souls and forgive them for their sin

Take the vanity and pride, take the anger in their hearts

Take the murder and the hatred

Please Father, just take it all, and lay it on my shoulders

I'll pay their debt, I love them, take me instead

Song Testimony

On a road trip from Texas to Missouri I was sitting in the truck at a gas stop. I found myself watching through the window all of the people out there in the world. People who don't know God and appreciate what Jesus did for us don't smile much. Of all the people I saw only a bare minimum of them had smiles on their faces. I began to thank God that I have a reason to smile every day. My father tells us all the time that when we pray we should really look deep inside of ourselves and try to put ourselves in the shoes of others, look at how they feel and then we will know what to pray. That's what happened with this song. Everybody talks about what Jesus did for us and how grateful we are. But has anyone looked at how He must have felt? Do you look at the deep hurt he felt when he knew what was happening? Do you look at the absolute despair in knowing His Father turned His eyes away. All of our sin on His shoulders and yet He was filled with so much love for us, but mere men, that He willingly went through all of this heartache to save us. Even the deepest of words put together could not possibly be enough to describe that kind of love. It is this deep love that makes us grateful for Jesus. Praise God for His sacrifice that we have been given the same opportunity to know His love too.
